Age Difference between Youngest, Oldest Quran Memorizers in Maldives Is 81

IQNA – There is an 81-year age difference between the youngest and oldest memorizers of the Quran in the Maldives.

According to the National Centre for the Holy Quran, the youngest Hafiz (memorizer) in the country is Aman Ahmed Athif, Daisymaage, B. Hithaadhoo, who is only ten years of age.

The oldest Hafiz is Mohamed Naeem, 91.

It said that there are currently 266 trained Quran memorizers in the Maldives. This includes 126 females, and 140 males.

The center noted that the highest number of memorizers is in Addu City.

Information shared by the center in response to a Right To Information request submitted by Mihaaru News reveals that in terms of population, the highest number of memorizers are from Addu City. There are 65 memorizers there with the average age being 53 years.

The second highest number of Quran memorizers are in Fuvahmulah, with the number reported to be 61. The average age of memorizers in Fuvahmulah is 48 years.

Third on the list is Lh. Naifaru, with 10 memorizers. Most of these memorizers are school students.
