The Hassan al-Hassani Cultural Center in al-Madiya hosted the event from May 12 to 15, according to Al-Arabi al-Jadid.
The theme of this edition of the festival was “Loyalty, Commitment and Belonging”.
It was organized to honor the memory of Abdelhamid Iskandar, a distinguished Algerian calligrapher.
Twenty provinces of Algeria as well as delegations from Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Turkey, Jordan, Malaysia, Oman, India, Tunisia, Bahrain, China, and Pakistan took part in the festival, where 100 calligraphy works by Algerian and foreign artists were put on display.
It also featured competitions and workshops on calligraphy styles such as Thuluth, Kufi Mushafi, and Diwani, with master calligraphers overseeing the sessions.
Additionally, the festival included visits to historical sites, including the Great Mosque of Algiers, the Fine Arts Museum of Algeria in Algiers, and the Madiya Museum of Arts and Folk Traditions.

This festival is an annual event dedicated to introducing classical Islamic arts. Over the years, it has evolved into an international gathering that attracts prominent calligraphers from around the world.
Last year, it was held with the motto of “For Palestine; Victory and Loyalty”.
