The Awqaf and Islamic affairs department in Morocco’s province of Fez dismissed Mohamed Ben Ali, head of the Association of Muslim Scholars in the province, from his position after he made statements condemning the official silence of the rulers of the country regarding the Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip.

Ben Ali had criticized “the participation of Moroccan rulers in the genocide against the Palestinians” – referring to the use of Moroccan bulldozers in operations related to the aggression of the Zionist regime in Gaza, Saut Satif reported.

This case has sparked controversy in religious, legal, popular, and political circles in Morocco, as this decision falls within the framework of silencing critical voices regarding the normalization of Morocco’s ties with Israel.

The expulsion of a member of the Muslim Scholars Association is evidence of the government’s commitment to normalization and opposition to critical scholars.

Since the start of the Israeli regime’s genocidal war against Gaza, Moroccan cities have witnessed widespread popular movements in support of the Palestinian people almost every week, with protesters demanding an end to the aggression and the lifting of the blockade of the Gaza Strip.

The protesters strongly condemn the Zionist regime’s policy of siege and starvation of the people of Gaza and genocide, and call on religious scholars to show responsibility at this critical stage, support the oppressed Palestinian people, and increase public awareness about the necessity of supporting the resistance.
