IQNA – A senior Iraqi cleric emphasized the necessity of conveying the principles and teachings of the school of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) school to the world, especially to Western societies.

Senior Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Yaqubi

Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Yaqubi, a Shia source of emulation, said this must be done in a language that is appropriate to contemporary understanding and in harmony with the global mission of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) school, a school that is considered a natural and legitimate extension of the message of the great religion of Islam.

He made the remarks in a meeting with a group of Shia doctors and engineers residing in the United States of America, which was held at his office in the holy city of Najaf.

He stressed the need for forming a conscious and profound understanding of this heavenly message and called for its intelligent use in the current conflicts and challenges facing the true religion in order to correctly introduce the dimensions, characteristics, and lofty values of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) teachings.

Ayatollah Yaqubi cited the noble hadith of Imam Reza (AS) who said: “May God have mercy on the servant who keeps our cause alive.” The narrator asked, ‘How will your cause be alive? And Imam (AS) replid: “He should learn our knowledge and teach it to the people; because if the people recognize the beauties of our speech, they will undoubtedly follow us.”

Ayatollah Yaqubi also pointed out the effective and determining role of the Hussaini rituals, especially in Western societies, and considered it one of the clearest examples of the revival of the cause of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

He emphasized that these rituals have two complementary dimensions: emotional and intellectual; The emotional dimension is manifested in holding mourning gatherings, feeding, helping the needy, and providing assistance to those in need, and the intellectual dimension is manifested in explaining the truths of the life of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), their positions, behavior, and the way they faced the events and developments of their time; and that too in a modern language that is appropriate to the level of understanding of the audience.

Emphasizing the universality of the message of Imam Hussein (AS), Ayatollah Yaqubi stated, “The discourse, expression, and vocabulary used to introduce the truths of the school of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) must be appropriate to the culture of the audience, their intellectual level, and in a language that they understand; because this message is a humane and comprehensive message and must reach all people.”
