IQNA – Today, despite hundreds of scientific and media platforms, the Quranic legacy of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) is unknown to Muslims around the world, a senior Iraqi cleric said.

The unveiling ceremony of the “Musu’ah Ahl-ul-Bayt al-Quraniya: Quranic Encyclopedia of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS)” in Karbala, Iraq.

Sheikh Khairuddin Ali al-Hadi, the head of the Dar-ol-Quran al-Karim affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine, made the remark in Qom on Tuesday, at the unveiling ceremony of the “Musu’ah Ahl-ul-Bayt al-Quraniya: Quranic Encyclopedia of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS)”, which has been compiled by the Astan.

“So, we need to reach out to them (world Muslims) so that they understand that human happiness and liberation in this world and the hereafter depend on following the path of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS),” he added.

He explained that there are two aspects to this encyclopedia: the first is the institution that supervised its compilation and the second is related to the origin of the encyclopedia itself.

“About a month ago, when I was speaking with some brothers (in Mashhad), a talk was raised about this encyclopedia. They said: ‘We were surprised by its publication in Iraq, because it is the first encyclopedia of its kind.’ Of course, these sciences are now available in the main Islamic reference books and in the books of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) school. We did not bring anything new; for example, our work in the field of analysis was based on searching and exploring the works of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), then collecting and classifying them. All of this work existed in some way in the reference books; but compiling a collection with this title is itself a great work in the service of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).”

Sheikh al-Hadi pointed out that some people claim “the infallibles (AS) do not have an opinion about the Quran” and that even in some scientific institutions, especially universities, they make some comments. “Therefore, this work was very important in its time.”

He noted that the Dar-ul-Quran al-Karim affiliated with the Atsan of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine has published the work.

“Perhaps it was God’s grace that this encyclopedia was published under the dome of the Sayyid al-Shuhada (AS). Today, Imam Hussein (AS) is global. The gaze of nations - especially regarding humanization and finding the authentic Islamic heritage - is towards Imam Hussein (AS). Today, Imam Hussein (AS) is the savior of mankind. From more than a hundred countries, especially during the days of Arbaeen, people come to (Karbala) to benefit from his knowledge and teachings.”

The cleric added, “When they hear that an encyclopedia about the heritage of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) has been published by the Astan, they will look for it and this will be an introduction to familiarizing them with a part of the Quranic heritage of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).”

He noted that the Dar-ul-Quran al-Karim was established in the Astan after the fall of the Baath regime in Iraq.

“During the previous regime, permission was not given to build Quranic institutions that would work in the field of the teachings of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS). Even the seminaries were in a difficult situation at that time.”

Sheikh al-Hadi stated that the Dar-ul-Quran has three missions: First, paying attention to the formal and verbal aspects of the Quran, because Shias, especially in Iraq, were accused of not reading the Quran, not having memorizers of the Quran, and not having reciters. “Therefore, the ‘National Memorization’ project was launched, and now more than 10,000 Quran memorizers have been trained in Iraq. The recitation project and the ‘Quranic Kids’ project for children are also being implemented. The second mission is research and analysis in the sciences of the Quran: face-to-face and virtual courses were held, and now more than 12,000 students from all over the world participate in these courses. The third mission is writing, researching, and publishing, and in this regard, the Dar-ul-Quran has published more than 100 works on the Quran. In addition, it has specialized Quranic magazines, including a special magazine on the interpretation of the Quran by Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS). Scientific conferences are also held, including the ‘International Conference on Imam Hussein (AS)’ with the participation of Islamic countries, including non-Arab states such as Indonesia and Malaysia. In this way, we were able to introduce them to a little of the legacy of the Family of Muhammad (PBUH).”

Referring to the presence of an Egyptian scholar at one of the conferences, Sheikh al-Hadi said, “His first question was: ‘They say that Shias have a Quran other than the Quran of Sunnis. Can I see a copy of your Quran?!’ Today, even though we are in 2025 and despite hundreds of scientific and media platforms, many people are still not familiar with us; because they are not ready to study our heritage, or are not willing to listen to the Shia views. Therefore, we need to go to them, so that they understand that the happiness of man and his liberation in this world and the hereafter lies in following the path of Muhammad (PBUH) and the family of Muhammad (PBUH); this heritage is unknown to them. When the title of the encyclopedia was published, dozens of calls were received from Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Algeria and some Persian Gulf countries, saying ‘For the first time, we hear that Ahl-ul-Bayt have commented on the Quran!’”
