They are sent to missions abroad to lead prayers and recite the Quran at religious ceremonies in those countries during Ramadan 1447 AH/2026 AD, El-Balad News reported.
There are 48 imams and 42 Quran reciters in this year’s missions. They will participate in Ramadan ceremonies, deliver lectures, and implement programs to correct misconceptions about Islam, according to the ministry.
This initiative is implemented within the framework of the ministry’s global Dawah mission and its efforts to meet the needs of Muslim communities abroad, strengthen religious and cultural ties, help establish the tolerant image of Islam, and strengthen Egypt’s religious position internationally.
Every year during Ramadan, the ministry of Awqaf sends Egyptian reciters and missionaries to various countries to carry out recitations and missionary programs.
The recitations of the Quran by Egyptian qaris are welcomed in Ramadan gatherings around the world.
Applicants for sending abroad must meet certain general conditions, such as providing proof of residency and membership in the Egyptian reciters’ union or appearing on radio and television, passing written and oral exams, and having no criminal record.
