
Abdel Fattah Tarouti said that the competitions are a fundamental pillar in the path of memorizing the Quran.
He made the remarks in an interview with Al-Akhbar Al-Masai, adding that he is generally interested in holding local and international Quran competitions and believes that these competitions play an important role in serving the Book of God.
They serve to encourage the new generation, especially the youth, to adhere to the Quran and memorize, recite and reflect on the Quran, he stated.
Tarouti added that participating in competitions has many benefits for the memorizer of the Holy Quran, the most important of which is maintaining his level and increasing his self-confidence, and it also makes him constantly busy memorizing the Holy Quran and reviewing it continuously.
Tarouti emphasized that the competitions also help to strengthen the voice and help memorizers master the rules of recitation, in a manner that is worthy of the glory and holiness of the Word of God Almighty.
The Egyptian reciter stated that Quran competitions are not just a competition; rather, they are an educational and spiritual environment that fosters the spirit of commitment and hard work and plays a role in raising an informed generation that is capable of conveying the message of the Quran and spreading it in a good manner and with skill in voice.
Abdel Fattah Tarouti is a distinguished reciter from the Sharqiya Governorate of Egypt and the vice president of the Quran Reciters Union in the country.
He was born in 1965 in the village of Tarout, a suburb of Zagazig, the capital of the Sharqiya Governorate. When he was three years old, his father sent him to the village school to memorize the Holy Quran.

Tarouti gained international fame with his Quranic journey to the United States in 1996 at the invitation of the Oakland Islamic Center in California, and also with his trip to Spain in 2000 to hold a ceremony to revive the holy month of Ramadan at the King Khalid Islamic Center. He dedicated himself to spreading the teachings of Islam and received an honorary doctorate from the Islamic University of Banu-Riyadh, Pakistan, in recognition of his role in serving the Holy Quran.
In 2025, the Presidency of the Religious Affairs of Muslims of the Russian Federation selected Tarouti as the Quranic Personality of the Year and the Best Quranic Personality at the closing ceremony of the Moscow International Quran Competition.
