
The Quranic event has been organized by the Libyan national unity government’s ministry of defense, Ain Libya reported.
A number of military officials and social and religious figures were present at the opening ceremony on Saturday.
The competition is aimed at enhancing spiritual values and institutionalizing the teachings of the Holy Quran among military forces.
This edition has been named “Martyrs of Homeland” to honor those killed in defending Libya, according to organizers.
The contest will run for a week, with the contenders competing in different categories of Quran memorization.
