Imam Hussein

Imam Hussein (AS) was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the son of Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia Imam. He is revered by Shia Muslims as the third Imam and the leader of the martyrs. He sacrificed his life and his family in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE, where he faced the tyrannical army of Yazid I, the Umayyad caliph. He is remembered for his courage, piety, and resistance against injustice and oppression.

IQNA – Imam Hussein ’s (AS) life and legacy is “not all about” the battle of Karbala, rather an understanding of how he lived throughout his life can help people to come to grips with his actual intention behind the uprising, says a researcher.
