The Gaza Strip is a densely populated Palestinian territory located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It covers an area of about 365 square kilometers (141 square miles) and has a population of approximately 2.3 million people. The area is often described as the world’s largest open-air prison. The indiscriminate Israeli attacks against the area starting in October 2023 left almost of its population internally displaced, causing a major humanitarian crisis.
