According to the draw, Iran’s representative Seyed Mostafa Hosseini will go on the stage to show his Quran recitation talents on Wednesday, Abdol Reza Alami, public relations officer at the Iranian Cultural Center in Kuala Lumpur, told IQNA.
He said other contenders to go on stage on Wednesday are Qaris from the Philippines, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
Alami noted that a clip was also played during the draw ceremony in which the regulations of the competition and the sideline programs were explained.
The 58th edition of Malaysia’s international Quran contest, officially named "International Al Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly”, will kick off in the Southeast Asian country’s capital of Kuala Lumpur on Monday night.
120 Quran reciters and memorizers from some 70 countries are expected to take part in the competition.
A 16-strong panel of judges comprising Quran experts from Lebanon, Qatar, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Indonesia, Egypt, Thailand and Malaysia will supervise the contest.
Iran’s Seyed Mostafa Hosseini arrived in Malaysia on Saturday.
A Quranic delegation and reporters from a number of Iranian media outlets accompany the prominent Qari to cover the international event.
