80,000 New Copies of Quran Placed in Mecca Grand Mosque Ahead of Hajj
The Holy Quran Directorate of the presidency of the mosque has provided the copies for the use of the Hajj pilgrims, according to Youm7.com website.
There are 2,300 shelves in different parts of the Grand Mosque, according to Fahd al-Zabiyani, head of the directorate.
He said that among the copies are those containing translations of the Holy Book in different languages, including English, Urdu and Indonesian.
There are also copies in braille for those pilgrims who are visually-impaired, he stated.
The official also noted that each pilgrim is welcomed by receiving a copy of the Quran as a gift.
Moreover, he said, the pilgrims can use mobile applications provided by the directorate that contain translations of the Quran in over 60 languages.
Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime.
Saudi Arabia has announced that it will receive foreign pilgrims for Hajj this year after two years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
