200 members of the Majlis (Iran’s parliament) in a statement said they would take part in Nov. 4 anti-arrogance rallies.

“Along with people all over the country, we will participate in the 13 of Aban (Nov. 4) demonstrations and chanting the slogan ‘Death to America’ show our resolve to oppose hegemony and domination of the global arrogance,” the statement read.

They referred to the different historical incidents that took place on this day in different years, including the Iranian revolutionary students’ taking over of the US Embassy in Tehran in 1980, and underlined the importance of the day.

The MPs said they defend the aspirations of the Iranian nation and the values of the Islamic Revolution and are proud to be following the path of the late Founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini and the guidelines set by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei.

On November 4, 1979, a group of revolutionary Iranian university students took over the US Embassy which had turned into a den of espionage which aimed to overthrow the nascent Islamic Republic establishment.

Documents found at the compound later corroborated claims by revolutionary students that the US was using its Tehran embassy to plot to overthrow the new Islamic establishment of Iran.

Imam Khomeini (RA) later hailed the effort as a second revolution with a greater significance than the first one.
