Supreme Leader’s Representative in the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili madeteh remark on Monday while addressing a rally marking the Day of Confronting the Global Arrogance.

 The rally was held on the anniversary of the Iranian revolutionary students’ takeover of the US embassy, later known as “Den of Espionage” in Tehran in 1979.

 Jalili referred to the statements of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini about the takeover of the US embassy and said the ideas and aspirations of the late Imam (RA) were so clear and sublime that even today the enemies cannot contradict them.

He said in Imam Khomeini’s (RA) sublime thoughts and aspirations, independence and freedom in all aspects were best defined.   

He said Imam Khomeini proved to nations that by overthrowing the tyranny in a country, the will not achieve freedom and independence but the supporters of the tyrants (global arrogance) need to be confronted.

 Jalili further referred to the takeover of the US embassy on November 4, 1979 as the symbol of Iran’s independence and that it showed that the Islamic Revolution was on the right path.

He also said the enemies seek to turn the Iranian nation’s unity and solidarity into division and discord but that they will fail.

On November 4, 1979, a group of revolutionary Iranian university students took over the US Embassy which had turned into a den of espionage which aimed to overthrow the nascent Islamic Republic establishment.

Documents found at the compound later corroborated claims by revolutionary students that the US was using its Tehran embassy to plot to overthrow the new Islamic establishment of Iran.

Imam Khomeini (RA) later hailed the effort as a second revolution with a greater significance than the first one.
