Construction Phases of Husseini Shrine on Display in Karbala

An exhibition featuring various phases of the construction project of Imam Hossein’s (AS) holy shrine was opened on November 5 in Karbala.


According to the information website of the holy shrine, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbalayi, custodian of the Hosseini shrine, Seyyed Afdhal Al-Shami, his deputy and members of the official council as well as a number of the staff of the holy shrine attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.



Having been organized at Bain-ol-Haramayn region between the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS), the exhibition will host visitors during the month of Muharram.



Sa’eed Zumaizam, director of the exhibition, said that the history of the holy shrine from the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) till today and the periods when the tomb and its annexes were destroyed by Abbasid caliph have been showcased in one of the sections of the exhibition.



In another section titled “Qamar-e Bani Hashem; Shamshir-e Borrande” (the moon of Bani Hashem; the sharp sword), Seerah of Hazrat Abbas (AS), brother of Imam Hussein (AS), his braveness, fighting abilities and sacrifice have been featured.



He added that the third section of the exhibition is titled “women accompanying Imam Hussein (AS)” and clarifies the important role that some 20 women played as the uprising was announced, during the event in Karbala and after the martyrdom of the Imam (AS).



He stressed that the exhibition provides information based on precise and reliable sources.
