According to IQNA’s Khorasan Razavi province, executive secretary of the congress Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Hossein Mohtashami presented a report at the closing ceremony.
He said 134 papers had made it to the congress, out of a total of 650 papers submitted to the secretariat of the event.
The cleric noted that 17 papers were in English and Arabic written by scholars and researchers from different countries including Iraq, Tunisia, the Netherlands, Canada, Algeria, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kuwait and Pakistan.
He added that a permanent secretariat of the congress will be established in Mashhad and the next edition will be held after about three years.
Later in the closing ceremony, Mohammad Mehdi MAzaheri, a senior advisor to the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, gave a speech discussing the issue of interaction of Quran and Sunna in understanding the religion.
The program concluded by honoring the authors of the top papers submitted to the international congress.
Organized by the Islamic Azad University, Mashhad Branch, the “First International Holy Quran Congress: With Special View to Human and Society” was held in Mashhad on November 20-21.
It was aimed at exchanging knowledge and ideas centered on “New Directions of Investigations in the Holy Quran and Related Subjects”.
