Tehran’s substitute Friday prayers leader said the Iranian nation’s massive turnout in November 4 rallies across the country proved that they follow the path of Imam Khomeini (RA).

Delivering his Friday prayers sermons at the University of Tehran’s campus, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati added that the Iranian people chanted Death to America, indicating that they are committed to the aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.

“People demonstrated that Death to America means death to bullying, death to oppression, death to arrogance and death to injustice.”

He referred to the ongoing talks between Iran and the G 5+1 (permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) and said while there is some hope in the outcome of the negotiations, there is not much optimism as the previous experience with the West shows that the Western countries, especially the US, are not after the truth but seek their interests only.

Ayatollah Jannati underlined that the West and the US have made numerous injustices to the Iranian nation during the past 34 years (since the victory of the Islamic Revolution) and that they are the enemies of Islam.

Elsewhere in his sermon, Tehran’s substitute Friday prayers leader pointed out the Basij Week and stated that the Basiji ideas have spread beyond the country’s borders.

He said Basij members should not remain silent in political arenas but should make their views known when they see deviations.

Ayatollah Jannati also elaborated on the event of Ashura and said the story of Karbala is one that has many aspects and needs to be worked on much more.
