Int’l Quran Competition to Start in Makkah

35th Saudi Arabia’s International Holy Quran Competition will kick off today, November 24, in the holy city of Makkah.

The competition will be organized at Masjid Al-Haram by the country’s Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Guidance, Al-Riyadh daily reported.

150 contenders from 61 countries will be competing in the five categories of the international Quranic event.

Prior to the start of the contest, an international course for training Quran competitions judgment skills began in the country on Saturday.

The secretariat of the competition has published a special magazine titled “Al-Duwaliya” in 136 pages. It includes articles on Quranic studies and interviews with the organizers and government officials.
