Zayd ibn Ali (AS) is the son of Imam Sajjad (AS) and grandson of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Holy Prophet (PBUH). Zayd was born in Medina in 695.
Zayd was a revered and respected member of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS). Scholars, Saints, Sufis and Imams alike, all spoke of him in respectable terms.
There is a narration that when describing Zayd, Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (AS) said: “Among us he was the best read in the Holy Qur'an, and the most knowledgeable about religion, and the most caring towards family and relatives.” Hence he was given the title “Haleef Al-Quran” (ally of the Quran).
