Close Competition at ‘State of Recitation’ Quranic Program

IQNA – In the latest episodes of the Egyptian Quranic talent show “Dawlet El Telawa (State of Recitation)”, the participants showcased their abilities in reciting and memorizing the verses of the Quran.

The seventh and eighth episodes of the popular TV program were broadcast on Friday and Saturday, Ad-Dustour reported.

The seventh episode included a competition among Reza Muhammad Reza, Muhammad Ahmed Hassan Ismail, Ashraf Saif Saleh, Walid Salah Attiyah, Muhammad Maher Shafiq and Mahmoud Al-Sayyid Abdullah.

Following the preliminary results, Reza Muhammad Reza and Walid Salah Attiyah competed to determine which of them would advance to the next round and which would be eliminated. Ultimately, the judges selected Reza Muhammad Reza to advance to the next round.

The jury consisted of: Sheikh Hassan Abdel Nabi, Deputy Head of the Committee for the Study of the Holy Quran at Al-Azhar; Taha Abdel Wahab, a specialist in Sawt and Maqams; Mustafa Hassani, an Islamic preacher; and Sheikh Taha Al-Numani, a senior Quran reciter.

The program also hosted a number of distinguished guests, including Egyptian Awqaf Minister Osama Al-Azhari; Grand Mufti of Egypt Nazir Mohamed Ayyad; Ali Juma, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar; Sheikh Ahmed Ahmed Nuaina; Sheikh Abdel Fattah al-Tarouti; Sheikh Jaber al-Baghdadi; British reciter Mohamed Ayoub Asif; and Moroccan reciter Omar Al-Qazabari, Imam of the Hassan II Mosque.

The reciters participating in the eighth episode were: Atiyaullah Ramadan, Ahmed Jamal Abdul Wahab, Muhanna Rabi Abdul Mun’im, Ali Muhammad Mustafa, Muhammad Kamel, and Omar Nasser Ahmed Ali.

As in the previous three episodes, which featured a new elimination round, five contestants advanced to the next round and one contestant was eliminated from the show. Sheikh Youssef Halawa was the special guest on episode eight.

Sheikh Hassan Abdel Nabi praised the performance of Ali Muhammad Mustafa Abdel Rahim, the third contestant on the show, after he qualified for the second stage to participate in the eighth episode of the show.

Ali Muhammad Mustafa is from Dakahlia Governorate. He is a 14-year-old student in the third year of Al-Azhar Preparatory School and recites in the Hafs from Asim narration.

After his recitation, Sheikh Hassan Abdel Nabi lauded him, saying that he was one of the best in the group that day and that he was completely captivated while listening to his recitation and wished that his recitation had not ended.

Contestants receive evaluation scores from the jury based on their mastery of Tajweed, rules of recitation, and Lahn. The two contestants with the highest scores will compete in a final competition, where the jury will determine the winner.

The program began with 32 participants, and the number of participants gradually decreased in each episode, as one or more participants were eliminated each time, until the winners of the two sections of the program, “Recitation” and “Tajweed,” will be determined.

The first-place winners in both the recitation and intonation categories will each receive one million pounds, in addition, they will have the entire Quran recorded in their voices and broadcast on the “Misr Quran Karim” channel.

They will also be given the honor of leading the Taraweeh prayers at the Hussein Mosque during the upcoming month of Ramadan.
