Head of Indonesia’s Al-Hukm Islamic Seminary said there are around 12000 memorizers of the Quran in the country.

Speaking in a meeting with Iran’s cultural attaché in Indonesia, Kiyayi Hashem Muzadi also said that the Al-Hukm  Seminary has 120 seminarians who study religious sciences, Tafsir (Quran interpretation), and Quranic sciences.

He noted that all of the students of the seminary are required to learn the entire Holy Quran by heart.

Muzadi, who is also the secretary general of the International Assembly of Islamic Scholars of Indonesia, further said during his 10-year presidency over the Nahdhat-ul-Ulama (scholars’ movement) he has strived to promote Iran-Indonesia ties in political, cultural and religious fields.

He said that during that period, three Islamic unity conferences were held in Indonesia.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Muzadi referred to the recent Fitnas (seditions) in the Muslim world, especially the terrorist attack against the Iranian embassy in Beirut, and underlined the need for unity among Muslims.

Ebrahimian, Iran’s cultural attaché, for his part called on Indonesia’s scholars to work for promotion of Islamic unity and fraternity.

He also delivered an invitation by Ayatollah Mohesn Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, to Kiyayi Hashem Muzadi to attend the International Islamic Unity Conference set to be held in Tehran next year.
