IQNA – The Afghan Shia Ulema (scholars) Council condemned a recent attack on an educational institution in western Kabul.

In a statement, the council called on the security officials of the country’s caretaker government to increase security measures and pay special attention to the security of schools, students and educational centers.
According to the AVA News Agency, the council expressed concern over the possibility of such incidents recurring and warned that this incident could increase concerns about a new wave of attacks and insecurity in the capital, especially in residential areas and educational centers.
Kabul police announced that at around 5:00 PM Monday, a hand grenade exploded at the Sham Hedayat school located in the Mahdia town in western Kabul, injuring dozens of people.
Police said security teams had arrived at the scene and investigations had begun into the circumstances of this incident.
A report on Tuesday said that the number of those injure in the explosion near the Sham Hedayat school has increased to 52.
The council called on security officials to comprehensively investigate the dimensions of the incident, identify the perpetrators of the explosion, and take effective security measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
It also called on the caretaker government to prioritize ensuring the security of citizens’ lives and property, especially the security of schools, students, and educational centers.
The statement emphasized the cooperation of the government, scholars, social institutions, and citizens to ensure sustainable security, and called on people to maintain calm and vigilance and report suspicious cases to the responsible institutions.

In recent years, attacks on educational centers and residential areas in western Kabul have been among the incidents that have raised concerns about the security of citizens and students in this part of the Afghan capital.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the Monday incident. Last week, the Taliban announced that they had destroyed all bases of the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group, which usually carries out these types of attacks.
