No Obstacles in Way of Developing Ties with Iraq: Imam Khamenei

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said the field for expanding relations with Iraq is very extensive and there are no obstacles for developing these ties.

Imam Khamenei made the statement in a meeting with the visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki on Thursday, December 5.

His Eminence underlined the importance of strengthening political and economic cooperation between the two countries and the need for expanding regional cooperation.

Imam Khamenei pointed to Iran’s outstanding scientific progress in recent years and said conveying these scientific experiences to Iraq can be a major area of bilateral cooperation.

The Supreme Leader also described the performance of the Iraqi government as positive and valuable.

Nouri Al-Maliki, for his part, thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran and hoped that the agreement made during his trip to Iraq will lead to elevation of cooperation between the two countries in different areas.
