Tehran’s substitute Friday prayers leader said the resistance of the Iranian nation was the secret to the country’s success in the nuclear issue.

Addressing worshippers at Tehran university campus on Friday, December 6, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami added that the destiny of the Iranian nation will be determined through the path of resistance, urging for the promotion of the culture of resistance.

“If the enemy sees the slightest weakness in us, it will make progress,” he underlined, adding that what has stopped the enemy so far is the resistance of the nation.

The senior cleric did not rule out the importance of diplomatic efforts but said there should be revolutionary enthusiasm and resistance among people along with these diplomatic efforts.

Elsewhere in his sermon, Ayatollah Khatami referred to the martyrdom anniversary of Ayatollah Modarres, noting that Ayatollah Modarres was a Mujtahid with pure intention who stood up against Reza Khan’s dictatorship and paid the price.

He also extended condolences over the death of South African anti-Apartheid leader Nelson Mandela and said Mandela was a leading figure in fighting colonialism and Apartheid.

Ayatollah Khatami further pointed to the Students Day and said Iranian students have been honored to be pioneers in confronting the US hegemony in different periods.
