32nd Quran Competition of IRGC Opens with 10000 Participants

Deputy of the public relations and disseminations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said that the 32nd edition of Quran competition of the force's members began this morning, December 17, with 10000 participants.


The opening ceremony of the contest was held with the participation of vice-president of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and a number of IRGC officials.



The program began with Quran recitation by Hamidreza Ahmadi Vafa, internationally known Iranian Qari and a clip of the preliminary stages of the contest was screened.



Speaking at the program, General Mohammad Ali Asudi said that the competition is being held in memorization of five to 30 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran, Tahqeeq and Tarteel recitation of the verses, Adhan and Quranic concepts.



700 participants will compete in the oral stage of the contest for three days.



He noted that the previous editions of the contest were supervised by Quran experts other than the members of IRGC, but this edition is being judged by Quran activists selected from among teh force's members who won top ranks at international levels.



The closing ceremony of the competition will be held on December 19 and winners will be awarded. The top participants in each category will compete at the biennial national Quran contest of the armed forces of the country.
