Winners of Morocco’s Int’l Quran Competition Awarded

In a ceremony held Thursday night, January 2, in Casablanca, winners of Morocco’s International Holy Quran Competition were awarded.

The 9th edition of the competition, named King Mohammed XI Award, was held in Casablanca starting from December 31, atlasinfo website reported. It featured Quran memorization and recitation as well as interpretation of the Holy Book. At the end of the contest, Omar bin Anwar bin Ibrahim Al-Nabrawi from Saudi Arabia and Al-Dib Nafa’a Muhammad Jalal Abdul-Rahman from Egypt emerged as the top winners. The Saudi contender came first in the memorization of the entire Quran category while the Egyptian participant won the first title in memorization of five Hizbs (sections of the Quran) along with interpretation. Addressing the closing ceremony, head of the jury panel Muhammad Jamil Mubarak described the level of this edition of the competition as high. 50 Quran memorizers from 37 Muslim countries took part in the international Quranic event. It was organized at the Quranic center of Hassan Thani Mosque in Casablanca by Morocco’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry. 1349902
