There are many question marks about the death of terrorist leader Majid Al-Majid, a Lebanese scholar said.

Ayatollah Sheikh Afif Nablusi, head of Ulima Board of Jabal Amel, made the remark in a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Arab-European Human Rights Center, adding that there are ambiguities about the terrorist leader’s arrest and subsequent death.

Al-Majid was the Saudi commander of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, an al-Qaeda offshoot that operates throughout the Middle East.

The group is responsible for the twin bomb attacks against the Iranian Embassy in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on November 19, which killed 25 people and injured more than 150.

A Lebanese army statement said on Saturday that al-Majid had died in a military hospital in Beirut earlier in the day while receiving medical treatment for kidney failure.

Ayatollah Nablusi further underlined the importance of distancing from Takfir (considering one’s fellow Muslim as infidel) which has threatened the culture and religion of Muslim societies.

He said extensive ideological, political and military efforts as well as unity among the Muslim Ummah are required to confront Takfiri activities.

Ayatollah Nablusi also condemned suicide bombings and said such terrorist activities are the result of the teachings of some who consider no value for humanity, dignity and life of Muslims.
