Yemenis have marked the birth anniversary of Islam’s prophet Muhammad by holding a mass gathering in the capital Sana’a.

An estimated crowd of fifty thousand people filled a soccer stadium in Sana’a praising the message of Islam, which -- thanks to Prophet Muhammad – has now spread to all four corners of the world.

Joining the crowd via satellite from the northern province of Sa’da, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, described the prophet’s birth as the greatest event in history which should be commemorated every year throughout the Muslim world.

He also condemned western intervention in Yemen, particularly US drone strikes which have killed many innocent Yemenis in the so called war on terror.

The celebrations marking the birth anniversary of prophet Moammad come only two days after a ceasefire was announced between Houthi fighters and Salafist in northern Yemen.

Tens of thousands of Yemenis have gathered in Sana'a to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

The protesters called for Islamic unity and an end to Yemen’s sectarian violence, which according to Houthi leaders is being instigated by foreign nations.
