Algeria Holds Quran Week

The 15th Quran Week of Algeria started in the capital Algiers on Saturday, January 18.

The country’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs Ministry organizes the Quran week, which includes different programs and activities, Al-Sharq website reported.

Addressing a ceremony marking the beginning of the Quran week, Algeria’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Bu Abdullah Ghulamullah said the country attaches great importance to teaching Quran memorization and recitation.

He underlined the role of the Holy Quran in the Algerian nation’s unity and solidarity, saying that the nation was guided by the Quran and achieved victory with the Quran.

On the first day of the week, 45 Quran memorizers from different provinces competed in a Quran memorization competition.

The Quran week will also include a seminar titled “Role of Quran in Forming Algeria’s Citizenship Character”.
