Muslims Urged to Be Vigilant against Takfiris
Khalil Hamdan talked to IQNA on the sidelines of the 27th International Islamic Unity Conference, which was held in Tehran on January 17-19.
The Fitna (sedition) of Takfir has come to a point where they condone eating the liver of Muslims and playing football with their heads, he said.
He urged for Muslim unity and vigilance in order to put an end to violence and terrorist activities in the Islamic world.
Hamdan, who represented Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri in the conference, appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei for the efforts to bring about Islamic unity.
“Iran has made extensive efforts in practice and in ideological fields for the realization of Islamic unity. The path of Imam Khomeini (in pushing for Muslim unity) still continues after decades.”
He said Imam Khomeini (RA) always emphasized the importance of unity and the organization of the Unity Conference with the theme of “Holy Quran and Its Role in the Muslim Ummah’s Unity” was another step highlighting the objective of Imam Khomeini (RA).
The Lebanese political figure stated that in the past, Imam Khomeini (RA) and other figures such as Sheikh Shaltout and Allameh Sharafeddin called for Islamic unity and today Imam Khamenei follows the same path.
Hamdan said Muslims ought to return to the teachings of the Holy Quran and act upon verses like verse 103 of Surah Al Imran “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided…,”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hamdan pointed to the issue of Palestine and regretted that Muslim societies no longer consider it as their main issues due to internal conflicts and clashes.
He also said that enmities against Iran, Syria and Lebanon are because these countries form the axis of resistance against the Zionist regime.
“The enemy has launched an all-out war in Syria, targeted security in Lebanon, killed many Iraqi children and seeks ethnic division in Iran, too.”
Hamdan went on to criticize the world media for failing to cover the situation in Palestine and the Palestinian children who are suffering in the Zionist regime’s jails.
