Secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (FPIST) said establishment of a center for dialogue among Islamic schools has been proposed.

Ayatollah Mohsen Araki made the remark at the closing ceremony of the 27th international Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, hoping that the idea was mentioned during the 3-day conference.

The senior cleric hoped that the center will start its activity in the near future.

Presenting a report on the International Islamic Unity Conference, which was organized by the FPIST on January 17-19, Ayatollah Araki said the main theme of the speeches delivered at the conference was confronting radical and Takfiri groups as well as the need for concentrating on common points among Islamic schools of thought.

He underlined that no effective steps can be taken in this regard unless Muslim scholars, including the scholars of Al-Azhar, Qom and Najaf seminaries and the Mufits of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan take a united stance for confronting the Takfiris.

Ayatollah Araki further noted that six committees were set up at the conference including peace committee and the committee for defending the Aqsa Mosque.

He stated that the FPIST’s general assembly was also held during the conference and members of its new board were elected.
