Yusuf Bilmahdi, director of the Islamic guidance department at Algeria’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, made the announcement, APS website reported.
He said these mosques were opened in different cities across the country.
Bilmahdi noted that as well as being a place of worship, the mosques host Quranic courses for different age groups.
He said that currently more than 70,000 male students and 17,000 female students take part in Quranic courses held in Algeria’s mosques.
The official added that there are also 470 private Quranic centers in the country that teach Quran recitation, memorization and Tafsir (interpretation).
