Speaking to IQNA, Tajeddin Hilali added that the Muslim Ummah should do away with issues like tribalism and sectarianism and work for boosting unity based on the Quran and Hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
He referred to verse 92 of Surah Al-Anbiya “Indeed, this nation of yours is one nation, and I am your lord, therefore worship Me”, and said working for unity is obligatory just as saying prayers, fasting, and paying Zakat is obligatory.
Sheikh Hilali, who is the founder and president of Egypt-based Center for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, regretted that some Muslims have neglected the Divine order to uphold unity.
“We really need to understand the teachings of the Quran and the Hadiths of the Holy prophet (PBUH) to strengthen Islamic unity and fraternity so that we can save the occupied Palestine…,” he stated.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the former Mufti of Australia urged the Takfiris who shed the blood of Muslims to fear God and exercise Taqwa and stop killing Muslims.
He said Takfiris who carry out terrorist attacks in countries like Iraq, Syria and Lebanon are elements of the Zionist regime.
Sheikh Hilali described Takfir as a weapon more dangerous for the Muslim Ummah than weapons of mass destruction.
He urged Islamic and Arab media to fulfill their responsibility to confront the Takfiri currents.
