These mosques have been built or renovated at a cost of more than 28 billion Egyptian pounds, Osama Raslan said, El-Balad News reported.

He said there has been a wide-ranging development in the field of construction, development and renovation of mosques in Egypt in the past 12 years.

According to the spokesman 28.8 billion Egyptian pounds have been spent to implement these projects.

Referring to the continuous process of opening new mosques, Raslan said every Friday, without exception, new inaugurations for mosques are held in Egypt, whether it is the complete construction of a mosque, or replacement and renovation, or maintenance and restoration operations.

At least one of these three types of activities is carried out every week, he stated.

The spokesman emphasized that attention to mosques is not limited to construction alone, but also to the human resources active in mosques and providing them with cultural facilities is also of great importance.

He added that libraries have also been established in mosques, and in some areas where residents do not speak Arabic, imams who are fluent in foreign languages are present in mosques and present daily educational and religious programs in different languages.

Raslan also noted that the ministry has held about 3,400 training courses and nearly 295,000 people have benefited from these courses.
