8th Conference of OIC Culture Ministers Kicks Off in Medina

The 8th Conference of the Ministers of Culture in OIC countries has been held by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) starting from January 21 in the holy city of Medina.

According to Ukaz newspaper, this edition of the conference mainly focuses on “cultural rights promotion in the Islamic world to foster dialogue and peace”.

Tayyebah University in the holy city hosts the conference held with the patronage of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz .

Ministry of Culture and Information of Saudi Arabia and Organization of Islamic Cooperation have jointly organized the program.

The international conference will continue until January 24.

Medina Book Fair was also opened on January 20 by the Saudi Minister of Culture and Information and a number of culture ministers from some Arab and Islamic countries.

The 7^th edition of the conference was held in Algeria in December 2011 with the participation of culture ministers from 40 countries.
