Iran Supports Establishment of Peace and Security in Syria
Larijani made the remark in a meeting on Wednesday with Syria’s Minister of Social Affairs Kinda al-Shammat, adding that Syria is in a sensitive and difficult juncture.
He praised the bravery of the Syrian people and officials in resisting the all-out onslaught of the enemies, stressing that the enemies seek to weaken Syria through creating crises.
Larijani underlined that the crisis in Syria should be resolved by the Syrian people and national groups, and that foreign meddling will only lead to further deterioration of the situation.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani highlighted the historic relations between Tehran and Damascus and urged for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries.
Ms al-Shammat, for her part, appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s supports for Syria and said the Syrian people will never forget these supports.
She also said the world powers, the Zionist regime and some regional countries seek the destruction of Syria by supporting the terrorist groups, stressing, however, that the people of Syria will defend their national identity and territorial integrity.
