OIC Slams Violence against Muslims in CAR

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani has expressed his deep concern on the continuing inter-communal violence and killings of Muslims in the Central Africa Republic.

While appealing for calm and peaceful co-existence between the various communities, Mr. Madani urged the new authorities in Bangui, the French and African-led peace keepers operating in the country, to assume their full responsibility to protect civilians, stem the flight of vulnerable citizens and end the bloodshed.
The Secretary General then called on the government and the relevant international and regional bodies to take urgent steps to investigate the sad events and bring the perpetrators to justice.
