He made the remark on Friday while addressing the opening ceremony of the 31st meeting of union’s executive committee, adding that the IIPU should work as a venue for pursuing the demands of the Muslim Ummah.
Larijani referred to the pressures and crises facing the Muslim countries today, stressing that they can use the union for confronting these pressures.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the speaker of Iran’s parliament underlined that representatives of Muslim countries in the union should rely on the common grounds among Muslims and confront division and discord.
Tehran will host the ninth meeting of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union on February 18-19.
More than 44 Islamic countries have announced readiness to attend the conference.
The IIPU was established in 1999 based on an initiative by Iran. It seeks to strengthen the parliamentary cooperation among the Islamic countries in order to solve the challenges facing the Islamic world.
