Slated for Wednesday, March 12, the festival will be attended by representatives from 30 countries, Sawt Al-Iraq website reported.
It will be the second edition of the international Quranic event, Mahmoud Abdul Reza Talal, governor general of the province said.
He noted that 22 countries had taken part in the first edition.
The festival will kick off at the shrine of Saeed Ibn Jubayr on March 12 and continue for three days, he said.
Talal added that religious and social figures and scholars from different provinces of Iraq will be present at the Quranic event.
According to the official, Quran memorizers and reciters from the participating countries will compete in a Quran contest planned on the sidelines of the festival.
He went on to say that the festival’s sideline programs will also include scientific sessions at the University of Wasit.
Saeed Ibn Jubayr was one of the companions of Imam Sajjad (AS) and a Quran memorizer, reciter and interpreter. Saeed was killed by Hajjaj ibn Yusuf Thaqafi, the wicked and cruel governor of Hijaz at the time.
