Egypt’s Dar-ul-Ifta Warns against Takfiri Threat

The Dar-ul-Ifta of Egypt, (a body overseeing the issuing of Fatwas- religious edicts) warned against the Takfiri threat.

It issued a statement on Monday, March 10, expressing concerns over the spread of Takfiri ideology in Egypt, Al-Shoruq news reported.
Takfir is among issued strictly banned in the Islamic Sharia (law), the statement said.
Takfir refers to considering certain groups of Muslims as infidel and declaring that killing them is allowed.
According to the Dar-ul-Ifta, studies by a center named “Takfir Watch”, which has recently been established in Egypt, indicate that the Egyptian society is facing a wave of onslaughts by the Takfiri ideology.
The statement underlined that Takfiri ideology is dangerous as it leads to terrorism and killing of innocent people.
