Iranian Representatives Win Int’l Quran Competition in Iraq

Two Iranian Quran activists managed to secure the top ranks at an international Quran memorization and recitation competition in Iraq.


Mahdi Forughi and Hussein Mo’tamedi from the holy city of Qom represented the Islamic Republic of Iran at the second edition of Sa’eed bin Jubair international festival in Iraq.

Ahmad Nuaina, internationally known Egyptian Quran reciter and Hamed Shakernezhad, renowned Quran reciter of Iran, were members of the judging board of the competition.

The Quranic festival began on March 14 in Kut, capital city of Wasit Province of Iraq, with the participation of representatives from 30 countries.

The winners were awarded at the closing ceremony of the festival on March 15.

Hamed Shakernezhad, the Iranian international Qari and a judge of the contest, was also honored by Nuaina.
