Speaking to IQNA, Salahuddin Uzgunduz referred to the creation of the European Union which has now spread to 27 countries and said Islamic countries in the Middle East should try to form such a union in the region as such a move would serve not only their own interests but the interests of all Muslims. He said the participation of countries like Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon in such a union would mean creation of a big power in the region. “These countries can find solutions for crises in Syria and Bahrain in such a way that neither jeopardizes nations’ interests nor allows foreigners to enter the Middle East on the pretext of resolving regional issues.” Uzgunduz also underlined that cooperation between Iran and Turkey would benefit the Islamic Ummah adding that the two countries can play a major role in resolving issues in the region and world. He further said the majority of Turkey’s people are against Ankara’s policy towards Syria, stating that the US deceived Turkey on Syria, using Turkey’s power in the region to spread its own agenda in the Middle East. He said that despite certain mistakes, the current Turkish administration has also had strengths. Elsewhere in his remarks, Salahuddin Uzgunduz said Turkey’s Jafari Shia community do not have a sectarian outlook but a national one when it comes to Turkey’s issues, stressing that they put the interests of Turkey above personal or group interests. http://iqna.ir/fa/News/1388816
