Tunisia’s foreign minister denied reports that controversial Egyptian-born Qatari cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi will move to Tunisia.

Mongi Al-Hamedi in a press conference said there has been no agreement between his country and Qatar on allowing al-Qaradawi to settle in Tunisia, lemag website reported.
He stressed that no such agreement has been reached between the two countries during the recent meeting between Tunisia’s president and the Emir of Qatar.
The office of al-Qaradawi in Qatar has also denied the reports, saying that the cleric will continue to lead prayers and deliver speeches in Doha.
Tunisian press had reported that following controversial statements made by al-Qaradawi, which had negatively affected Qatar’s relations with a number of other countries,  he has decided to leave Doha for Tunisia.
In February the United Arab Emirates summoned the Qatari ambassador over what it said were insults against the UAE made by al-Qaradawi.
It came after al-Qaradawi, in a sermon delivered at a mosque in Doha and broadcast by state television, condemned the UAE as a country which was against Islamic rule.
