Quran Competition for Youth Planned in Egypt

A Quran memorization and recitation competition for the youth is planned to be held in Egypt later this month.


It will be organized by the country’s ministry of youth and sports in cooperation with the Awqaf ministry, Al-Yawm Al-Sabi news agency reported.

Egyptian youths aged between 18 and 35 will compete in different categories of the competition, whose first stage is slated to start on April 20.

The youth ministry said 9 contestants from each province of Egypt will make it to the final stage, scheduled for June 1.

Winners of different categories will receive cash prizes amounting to a total of 112,000 Egyptian Liras.

The competition is aimed at promoting Islamic values and encouraging the youth to learn and memorize the verses of the Holy Quran, the organizers say.
