Made up of scholars from Al-Azhar Islamic Center and Egypt’s Awqaf ministry, the committee will also be responsible for issuing permission for Khataba (delivering sermons), Al-Moujiz website reported.
Awqaf minister Muhammad Mukhtar Guma said the committee will ban political activists from delivering sermons.
He underlined that preachers of mosque must not have any political activities.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Guma referred to his ministry’s plans for the holy month of Ramadan and said a number of seminars will be held in Egypt during the holy month including one featuring “mosques and scholars” and another named “Ramadan in Egypt”.
Ramadan, a month of fasting for Muslims around the world, will start late in June this year.
