“Islamophobia, State of Emergency” Forum Planned in France

A forum titled “Islamophobia, State of Emergency” will be held on May 10 by the Coordination Against Racism and Islamophobia (CRI) in Lille, France.


According to Saphirnews, the forum has been planned with the aim of getting the French citizens informed of dangers and threats posed by some of right-wing extremist parties through their anti-Muslim measures.



The program will be held with the participation of Abdelaziz Chaambi, President of the Lyon-based Coordination and Karim Achoui, head of the Union for Defending Muslims’ Rights in France.



The participants will discuss the increase of anti-Muslim activities in France and formal or informal statistics about the fact.



On the sidelines of the forum, a new office of the coordination will be opened in Lille with the participation of Muslim citizens and a number of local officials of the city.



The responsibility of Islamic organizations to fight racism, French Muslims and Laicism, what Western democracy says about anti-Muslim activities, Islamic identity besides French identity and the methods of propagating coexistence in the French society are among the themes to be discussed at the forum.
