Hassan Rabiei, an official with the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization made the announcement in an interview with IQNA, adding that the number of participating countries is expected to be even more.
He noted that the competition will start in Tehran on May 26.
According to the official, there will be sideline programs in this edition of the contest like the previous editions.
He said the sideline events will include a Quranic studies conference as well as a congress for honoring women Quran researchers.
Rabiei further referred to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei's emphasis on contemplating the Quran and said the Islamic Republic of Iran is the only country that pays due attention to Quranic research along with competitions on recitation and memorization of the Quran.
More than 110 Quran memorizers and reciters from 75 countries participated in the previous edition of Iran's international Quran competition in 2013.
The contest is annually organized by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.
