The contest was held on Sunday, June 8, in the categories of memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran, pagehalal website reported.
It was organized on the sidelines of the 12th annual convention of French Muslims in the city.
In the memorization category, there were three age groups of under 9, under 14 and under 19 years of age.
Contenders in each group competed on memorization of certain Surahs (chapters) of the Holy Book.
There were no age limits in the recitation category of the contest but there was a precondition for those willing to attend the category, that is, not having won any ranks in the national or regional Quran competitions in France.
The Union of France's Islamic Organizations organized both the annual convention and the Quran competition.
There are around 6 million Muslims living in France. The country is home to the largest Muslim minority in Western Europe.
