Int'l Quran Expo Opens in Tehran

The 22nd International Holy Quran Exhibition kicked off Tuesday in a ceremony in the Iranian capital of Tehran.

A number of Quranic, cultural and political officials, including Culture Minister Ali Jannati, Tehran Municipality's Social and Cultural Deputy Hojat-ol-Islam Amroudi, and Head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Vali Yarahamadi, attended the opening ceremony at Tehran's Holy Defense Garden-Museum.
It began with playing of the Islamic Republic of Iran's national anthem followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by prominent Iranian Qari Saeed Tousi.
Next, Hojat-ol-Islam Amroudi in a speech highlighted the progresses made in this edition of the expo compared to the previous ones.
He said there is a 30-percent rise this year in the number of pavilions showcasing Quranic works and activities.
Director of the expo Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Reza Heshmati also addressed the opening function, describing the Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition as a unique Quranic event in the world.
He suggested that in the coming years, the event become a Quran and Etrat (AS) exhibition.
Ali Jannati, the culture minister, in his address said the exhibition is a venue for manifestation of Quranic talents and potentials.
The international Quran exhibition will be underway every day from 7 P.M. till midnight through July 13.
