Contenders from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq and Syria competed on the second night of the contest, last night, June 29.
Yusuf Aql, who recited verses 5-8 from Surah Ibrahim, scored 85025 and was selected as the best Qari of the night by the jury panel.
Ali Nouri Rasoul from Iraq, Sayyid Hashem Sayyed Muhammad Al-Shula from Saudi Arabia and Reza Nimr from Syria respectively recited verses from Surahs Al Imran, Nahl and Taha.
Titled "Inna lil-muttaqina Mafaza" (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31), the competition is annually organized by the TV network during the holy month of Ramadan.
The seventh edition of the competition began Saturday, June 28, the first day of Ramadan.
The preliminary round will last for 24 days and five contenders who gain the highest score will make it to the final round.
The top winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of 5000 dollars.
The jury panel of the contest comprises eminent Quran experts including Taha al-Sayah from Egypt, Munir Al-Aqla from Lebanon, Karim Yassir from Iraq and Sayyed Abbas Anjam from Iran.
